Sesshin
Sesshin is an extended meditation retreat in the Zen tradition, a time to come together as a community, and settle deeply into practice. A rough translation of the Japanese word "sesshin" is to touch the mind, or become intimate with the mind. Becoming intimate with the mind, the heart and your life as it really is, is exactly what happens at sesshin. It's an opportunity to deepen one's practice by joining together with companions on the path, and settle into deep meditation, koan work, and community. By paring down our normal schedule for a few days we make room for the many other possibilities of life to arise.
Sesshin at LZC includes zazen (sitting meditation), kinhin (walking meditation), body movement, community, healthy vegetarian meals, work, music, and dokusan (private interviews and koan work) with the teacher.
This is both a residential and non-residential retreat. If you would like a more intimate experience of sesshin, there is room to stay at the Centre during the retreat. Please let us know what your preference is. Particiants will receive an email after registering with information on what to bring and FAQ reference guide.
Sesshin Dates: March 2 to March 4
